PreGame: Mets at Marlins
Today’s lineup looks very different, as Castro will be catching. Lo Duca needs a day off from that foul tip injury!!
1. Reyes SS
2. Beltran CF
3. Alou LF
4. Delgado 1B
5. Wright 3B
6. Green RF
7. Castro C
8. Valentin 2B
9. El Duque P
El Duque (1-1) has been pretty good this year, other than that last start where he was ripped off by the umpire.
PreGame: Mets @ Marlins
Mets and Marlins are set to play game one of a two game series. John Maine will pitch against “D-Train” Dontrelle Willis. The weather, unlike the beginning of the season for the Mets, is much, much warmer. The temperature at game time in Miami is supposed to be 79 degrees.
The Mets won big last night, with a final score of . Moises Alou had two home runs and a great defensive play. Tom Glavine is now just seven wins from 300 in his career.
Paul Lo Duca is a tough guy… he usually never leaves the game but he was forced to yesterday, as he took a foul tip off his hands. X-Rays were negative, and manager Willie Randolph announced he will be starting tonight.
Today’s lineup SHOULD look as follows:
1. Reyes SS
2. Lo Duca C
3. Beltran CF
4. Delgado 1B
5. Wright 3B
6. Alou LF
7. Green RF
8. Valentin 2B
9. Maine P
The warm weather should help people like Delgado get his swing going. I know he hates the cold and also, he has a new son, who is named Carlos Antoine Delgado. I hear he is up a few times a night, but thats what parents gotta do.
Let’s Go Mets!!
PreGame: Mets @ Phils
Mets (7-4) vs. Phillies (3-8)
Come on, a new opponent already! Jeez, we gotta play the Phils again?!
Well, I guess the Mets are going to have to deal with it. Tonight’s game will begin at 7:05 PM at Citizens Bank Park. Tonight’s pitching matchup looks as follows:
LHP Tom Glavine (2-1, 3.12 ERA) is coming off a win on Thursday against, guess who, the Phillies, where he gave up two home runs to Jimmy Rollins. He’s facing off against RHP Freddy Garcia (0-0). The right-hander had a delayed start to his regular season because of soreness in his right biceps. In his only career start against the Mets, Garcia allowed one run on six hits in a complete-game victory, striking out seven.
This is game two of a two game series, but the first game was postponed to the annoying northeast storm. After the game tonight, the Mets will head to Florida to take on the Marlins for another two-game series. Finally, the Mets will come back to Shea and celebrate Jackie Robinson Day for a weekend three-game set against the evil Atlanta Braves.
The lineup should be same as always, since, well, no one needs rest because of the STUPID nor’easter. Here it is:
1. Jose Reyes SS
2. Paul Lo Duca C
3. Carlos Beltran CF
4. Carlos Delgado 1B
5. David Wright 3B
6. Moises Alou LF
7. Shawn Green RF
8. Jose Valentin 2B
9. Tom Glavine P
Just another day at the office for Tommy, starting his 638th career game, while attempting for win number 293. His career record is 292-192 … Give us a quality start… and lay down one of your classic sacrifice bunts, Tom!
Let’s Go Mets!
Rainout again!
the Mets vs. Phillies game has been rained out due to the Nor’easter.
It will be reschedueled with a doubleaheader on June 29.
Yesterday’s game will be part of a doubleheader on July 28 at 12:10 PM
The rotation has been reshaped for the next five games as follows:
Tom Glavine, Tuesday at Phillies
John Maine, Wednesday at Marlins
Orlando Hernandez, Thursday at Marlins
Mike Pelfrey, Friday vs Atlanta
Oliver Perez, Saturday vs Atlanta
Rockies’ Matsui to DL
According to espn.com, Rockies’ 2B Kaz Matsui, a former Met, has been put on the 15-day
disabled list because of back spasms…
His stats are not bad at all this year! It must be that New York curse he had. He lost everything when he left Japan. He came to the Mets as a starting shortstop. He lost that job, so was a starting second baseman…lost that job, so eventually he became a high-paid bench player last season for the Mets, until the Mets traded him to the Rockies. Kaz Matsui’s numbers had declined so much from his all-star days in Japan that he was not even invited to play for Japan in the World Baseball Classic last season.
The Mets couldn’t afford to just have him sitting on the bench all year as a high-payed player that just didn’t cut it, so they finally traded him.
He’s hitting .361 and has five stolen bases in five attempts in eleven games for the Rockies this season.
It looks like Kaz has found a new home!
