Giants 6-2…Again

October 28, 2007 · Filed Under Giants · 3 Comments

For a second consecutive season, the New York Giants are 6-2. Whether that is a positive thing or a negative thing, well, we have yet to find out. Last season the Giants were 6-2, only to finish with two more wins for the rest of the year, luckily sliding into the playoffs with a .500 record, 8-8.

According to most writers and broadcasters, this Giants team is different. It is more balanced, more experienced, and especially more aware. The reason they are more balanced is that their defense is not horrible like last year. New Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who coached the Eagles linebackers last year, came off to a slow start with Big Blue. His defense allowed a miserable 80 points in the first two games. Following that, the defense has led the Giants to six consecutive victories, putting them right near the top of the NFC.

The Dallas game is so big that the Giants can take over possession of first place in the NFC East with a win, and there has been no better time than now. Not only is Big Blue riding a six-game winning streak back home from London, but they have a bye to get extra rest and be more prepared…oh, and did I mention that the game is at home, Giants Stadium? Well, it is, and the with a win, the Giants will improve to 7-2, a record most journalists thought would be well out of range, especially after an 0-2 start.

Week, Opponents Result

Week 3 – @Redskins Win

The Giants are on Bye next week.

Giants Win Sixth Straight Game

October 28, 2007 · Filed Under Giants, This Week's Giants Game · Comment

The Giants found another way to win. This week, it may not have been pretty, but regardless of the score or weather conditions, the Giants still pulled out another win to put them at 6-2. Brandon Jacobs had over 100 yards rushing again, while this time he acheived the most rushing yards in his career. Eli Manning appeared to have a horrible game on the stats, but that was not the case. Many of his throws were right on the money, including several touchdown passes that were dropped. Eli was able to avoid traffic and ran down the left sideline to score on his own in the first half, a 1o-yard touchdown run.

The field was in unbelievably horrible condition throughout the game. The rain dumped down on the field, making players slip and slide all over the place. After the game, Michael Strahan said that it was one of the worst games weather-wise that he has seen in awhile.

The Giants won their sixth straight game, the first time that they have won six straight games since 1994. They now have a bye week before they play the Dallas Cowboys at the Meadowlands. If the Giants beat the Cowboys, they will take over possession of 1st place in the NFC East. Also, if Dallas loses next week, the Giants will be tied for first, but will not officially BE in first because of the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The bye week will help Burress’ ankle problem at least a little bit. For it to heal, he really needs a couple weeks, but it doesn’t appear he will be getting that.

Jim McKinnon, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress could be arrested for two unpaid traffic tickets he received in Pittsburgh over the past three and a half years. Municipal courts, along with the Allegheny County sheriff’s office and Pittsburgh police announced a campaign to collect overdue fines from people guilty of summary violations between Jan. 1, 2003, and Sept. 1, 2007. Those people could be arrested if they do not take action before the deadline.
